Close to Cape Town CBD, Glen Beach is a good after-work surf option. When the banks are in place after a good storm, it can be a devine surf spot to be. Glen Beach seems to pick up swell when there isn’t any anywhere else, so in Summer it’s a good when all else is flat. It gets quite hollow, breaking onto a shallow bank at low tide and locals get barreled there. Midtide is a bit more forgiving. |

Lots of places to choose from – stroll along Victoria Road (beachfront) and take your pick from Blues (upmarket) and Primi (tasty) on Bakoven end to the Sandbar (friendly), Bayside (homey) and Vide E (coffeeeee) at the Glen Beach end with many inbetween. |

Glen Beach is quite local and the guys are hot. Camps Bay is a trendoids heaven, so if that’s your scene, this is your place. In Summer there are boys playing beach bats, and just over the rocks, on Camps Bay, are touch rugby games twice a week. SUPs glide across the bay on warm calm evenings and the latest trend is skimboarding at the Glen end of Camps Bay. |

2 out of 5 for the wave, more for the scene. |
